well, crap.
It is looking like the part time seasonal job at Target isn't going to happen. They kept trying to schedule me for orientation during the day the last week, to which I always answered "I can't start before 12/8, and I can only come in evenings/weekends". I went through this with two different people a total of three times. Today I have voice mail from one of the two people letting me know that orientation is Monday at 1pm. I'll call them back tomorrow but my having a day job and only being able to work (or train or attend orientation) in the evenings seems to not be getting through. It is just supposed to be a seasonal job for a few weeks, I don't know when I'll be able to go to orientation, and as a result I have no work schedule yet. If I don't get on the schedule until a week before Christmas that is hardly worth it. And worst is that I've wasted the last two weeks where I could have been finding a different part time seasonal evening/weekend job where I don't have this schedule conflict problem for new employee orientation. So frustrating. On top of that I'm not sure I can work while on vacation later this month, I'm re-reading my employer's moonlighting policy again tonight to see if it is a violaton to be paid for a second job while you are being paid on vacation time. If it is, then I am down to only being able to work a week and a half of evenings and one weekend between now and Christmas.
Why is doing the right thing sometimes so hard?
