I've attended five out of six BlueHat security conferences. About damn time I put a BlueHat shirt on Fun Shirt Friday. This shirt is from the most recent event, BlueHat 6. BlueHat 1 didn't have a shirt, but at some point I'm sure the BlueHat 2 and BlueHat 3 shirts will show up on FSF because I think they are pretty cool too.
and I've got to throw in a second picture just because it makes me chuckle.

I was really busy last week, too busy to blog. That's right, no NTT, no Toon Tuesday, no Wednesday Whine, no Fun Shirt Friday. I'm pretty busy again this week, but I'll try to make it up.
For the last week I've been attending a couple conferences - Microsoft's fifth BlueHat event, and the first ToorCon Seattle (beta). This was my first BlueHat as an attendee and not an organizer, and it was weird. I felt like I should be *doing* something. And it was tough to stay out of the way - people who know me from my prior work on BlueHat would ask questions about the event, and I worked very hard to point them to the right people to answer so it was clear that I was just a spectator. Maybe that was unhelpful, but I really didn't want to step on anyone's toes. ToorCon was also a first for me; I haven't been to their regular San Diego conference yet (though I think its planned in my calendar for this fall). The format was interesting - single track of 20 minute talks. As a result, I think people saw more content and spent less time off in hallway conversations. That is not to say that social networking didn't happen - it just was neatly contained at events Friday evening, Saturday evening, and Sunday. On top of having great content format, the location was comfortable, there were plenty of screens so everyone could see the slides being projected, the food and drinks were better than your average conference fare, they had womens t-shirts printed (ROCKSTARS!) and the conference badges were Scrumdiddliumptious. h1kari, Geo, Tim, Phil, you guys rock. I'm not the only one who says so - everything I can say, Shy can say better. One more thing - thanks IOActive for sponsoring and organizing another great Scavenger Hunt. Team Disco Inferno rules!
Saturday afternoon I left ToorCon early to go with the family to a friend's 40th birthday. We all had a good time, but kept the kids up 2 hours past their regular bedtime. Who'd have imagined the fallout the next day? They didn't sleep in, they woke up at their regular time (between 6 and 7 am) on Mother's Day. My daughter then proceeded to have a four hour temper tantrum where she just changed topics from time to time. After breakfast (daddy made us all strawberry pancakes, yum) we drove around for several hours to get them to take naps, had a surprisingly good burger at Jack in the Box for lunch (seriously, check out the new sirloin burger), stopped at Target for diaper wipes, then took the kids to the doctor to get their ears checked. My daughter had been complaining all day that her left ear hurt, but nothin. Her left tonsil is swollen, but no infection or anything (yet). My son however, appears to have the ear infection from hell. Despite just finishing his second round of antibiotics, he still has infections in both ears. So he is on a different, stronger antibiotic now. Let's see if the third time is a charm.
Once home and kids in bed, I finally got to relax a little and take a shower. Then I played a little LOTRonline. And in Bree, I found something pretty funny. The lonely crazy cat lady wasn't home, but the cats were. Check it out.
There is another spot in the game where I was up on a big snowy hill, and came across a snowman. I didn't think to take a screenshot though. Next time.
I've gotten a valid question about my team picture from the Vox Hunt last week, one that warrants a full blog post explanation for my three readers.
Our team theme was vampire/goth. The team that was our stiffest competition were the Disco Fever. Seriously, eight guys in Stayin' Alive suits running around the city taking performing stunts and taking pictures. Every team had a theme, for example Free Love For Sale were hippies. We rode around in limos for three hours (because what better way to have a designated driver than to pay a chauffeur?) and competed against 9 other teams for bragging rights. It is hella fun.
Technically I wasn't on the Robbed Zombies team, I was a Game Warden. There were three Game Wardens, the people who organized the event, set the rules, etc. But come game night, each of us joined a team to join in on the fun. But as a Game Warden, we weren't dressed to match a team, we were in camo. Otherwise, I'd have had my fangs in and been wearing a bit more pleather.
Here are a few more photos... This is from March 2006. I've been in two other Limo Races other than this one, in October 2005 (Game Warden) and October 2006 (Pirate). Enjoy.
P.S. I know a photo exists from the October 2005 race of a certain team at the Pike St. Pig stuffing marshmallows in their mouth, but I can't find it. If you've got it, I need it. Name your price.
Show us your team!

this was our team (Robbed Zombies) accomplishing the "get a team picture with a pinata" task. We won the scavenger hunt that year. wheeee!
